Single Sign-On (SSO) is a critical authentication process that increases security and convenience by allowing users to log in to multiple applications using a single sign-on. SSO decreases password sprawl, thereby decreasing security threats like credential reuse and phishing attacks. SSO also enhances operational efficiency by consolidating identity management, decreasing administrative burdens, and simplifying user access. SSO, however, can be a single point of failure if not adequately secured. To counter risks, organizations must implement multi-factor authentication (MFA), use strong session management, monitor authentication logs for suspicious activity, and use least privilege access rules to prevent unauthorized access and breaches.
