Sam Menzin is a sports executive, entrepreneur, and baseball advisor whose career has been built around recruiting, player development, and baseball operations. As the founder and CEO of Campus Edge Baseball, he has combined his expertise in athlete evaluation, analytics, and organizational leadership to help student-athletes pursue collegiate opportunities. His professional experience includes player acquisition, contract negotiations, operational management, and sports consulting, giving him a diverse background across the baseball industry.

In 2025, Sam launched Campus Edge Baseball, a recruiting and advisory platform designed to provide student-athletes with personalized support throughout the college recruiting process. Through the organization, he developed a recruiting infrastructure that includes athlete profiles, coach and school databases, school-match applications, and recruiting strategy resources. As CEO, he oversees sales, marketing, website development, social media management, client onboarding, analytics, financial tracking, video optimization, and NCAA compliance. He also works closely with baseball showcase events. He maintains relationships with coaches across Division I, Division II, Division III, and junior college programs to help athletes improve their recruiting opportunities.

In addition to his work with Campus Edge Baseball, Menzin serves as an analyst with Woods Capital and is the founder and principal of SJM Sports. Through these roles, he advises investors, ownership groups, and private equity firms evaluating sports assets, acquisitions, and operational strategies. His consulting work reflects his interest in both the business and competitive sides of sports, helping organizations assess opportunities and make informed decisions.

His passion for baseball was strengthened during his teenage years after reading Moneyball. The book introduced him to the analytical side of the game and inspired a long-term interest in player evaluation and baseball operations. While attending Swarthmore College, Sam played four years of varsity baseball and earned the 2012 Centennial Conference Sportsmanship Award. During his college years, he also worked for two years as Assistant Director at the Complete Game Institute. In that role, he managed the Pitching Biomechanics Facility, organized pitching camps, and worked with high-speed video technology to support player development.

His professional foundation was established through internships with the New York Mets, Turner-Gary Sports, and the Detroit Tigers. At the New York Mets, Menzin worked in Corporate Sales, assisting with client relations, corporate activations, sales support, stadium tours, and game-day operations. At Turner-Gary Sports, he spent two years in Baseball Operations, gaining experience in salary arbitration preparation, statistical analysis, market evaluation, and free-agent strategy. He also contributed to the design and development of the agency's website. In 2012, he joined the Detroit Tigers as an intern in Baseball Operations, assisting with arbitration preparation, negotiation analysis, player recommendations, and trade-related evaluations.

His career with the Detroit Tigers extended over 14 years and reflected a steady progression through the organization. Beginning as an intern, Sam advanced through analyst, coordinator, and director positions before becoming Vice President and Assistant General Manager in 2021. In that leadership role, he oversaw teams across scouting, medical, performance, and player experience departments. He contributed to player acquisition efforts, contract negotiations, salary arbitration matters, and capital investment initiatives totaling more than $100 million. He also served as the interim club point of contact during a transition involving the President of Baseball Operations.

Menzin earned a Bachelor of Arts in History with a minor in Psychology from Swarthmore College and participated in a study abroad program in Rome, Italy. He is currently pursuing an Executive Master of Business Administration at Baruch College's Zicklin School of Business and is expected to graduate in 2027. Raised in Westbury, New York, he attended Friends Academy High School before continuing his academic and athletic pursuits.

Outside of his professional responsibilities, Sam Menzin maintains interests in baseball leadership, scouting, statistical analysis, college baseball advising, sports investments, construction and design projects, and contract negotiations. He also enjoys cooking, running, skiing, biking, yoga, and chess. In 2023, he completed the Detroit Marathon while raising $17,000 for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. He has volunteered with NOSH Food Kitchen in Glen Cove, New York, and Mission City in Detroit. Through his work in recruiting, consulting, and baseball operations, he continues to support athletes, organizations, and baseball-connected communities.
