Magic Missile is THE best attack for PvE. It is possible to easily kite and even reposition using the other two most powerful games' spells Invisibility and Haste.

Put away your weapon when you attempt to walk in order to improve your speed of movement further for better positioning. Simple as that.

Magic Missile, Haste, Invisibility are mages bread and butter. The way to do this is to use a certain dagger, quarterstaff, or magic sword to compensate for the loss of melee damage.

So you can move around your enemies and destroy them without having to waste any spell.

Perhaps you've never watched animated series about dungeons

I played the game and was a bit envious of Tarkov until I understood it and started to perform better. This game may borrow inspiration from Tarkov in its loot system, but does not have the same gameplay. There's a distinction between "You were shot as you crossed an open area combating scavs, and gave away your location" as well as "this flying insect took 2 Ice bolts as well as a lightning strike, but it still killed the player in just 3 strikes". The former can be learned from and work around. However, the latter is not possible. You shouldn't be forced to run backwards or in circles or attack with bait and then move back.
