Thomas & Friends is a British children's television series, first airing in 1984. It features the adventures of Thomas the Tank Engine and his friends on the fictional island of Sodor. The show is based on the Railway Series of books by the Reverend Wilbert Awdry and his son, Christopher Awdry. The series has been adapted for television, film, and video games and has a large following of young fans.
